K-9 base almost done
K-9’s base is nearly complete. The large insets on the left and right sides are installed, the front & back sides reinforced and the whole thing has been puttied and sanded a second time. (Sorry, no new pictures.) There’s still one good weekend’s worth of work on the base before major construction is done. I need to install the last trim pieces on top and bottom of the side insets, Dremel down a few of the uneven edges on the insets, grind down a few nails that didn’t go in deep enough and then a little touch up wood putty & sanding.
With the base nearly complete, I’ve started thinking about how to build the head. The plans from Lespacelie.com have incredibly useful printouts of the head parts that appear to be at scale. I’m just not sure how to “bend” wood to make the curved panels on the top and rear of the head. Perhaps a trip to Lowe’s is in order for that one.
